Since 1988 - Safety, Residential Care & Empowerment for Women overcoming the impacts of Addiction, Violence, Homelessness & Poverty.
Since 1988, Chrysalis Society has supported over 3,500 women throughout B.C. Chrysalis is a registered Canadian Charity that operates four programs; three long-term addiction recovery homes and subsidized housing for marginalized women in Vancouver.
Chrysalis has a long-standing reputation for working with highly marginalized women with complex mental health issues. Chrysalis supports women prescribed medicines that often hinder eligibility for other inpatient addiction programs. Chrysalis recognizes the intersections between women’s addiction and their experiences of violence, exploitation and homelessness.
For many women who have graduated from our programs, reunification with children and renewed relationships with family and community have become realities.
New Dawn, New Day & New Way: recovery homes in which women have the safety and long-term (18+ months) post-detox programming, structure, supports and advocacy they need to heal, stabilize (medically, emotionally and situationally), and prepare to secure affordable, sustainable housing.
Housing Subsidy Program: eligible graduates of New Day and New Way can access 1.5 years of rent subsidy support to alleviate housing cost stressors while transitioning to independence. Ongoing aftercare supports and advocacy are available to women as individual needs may warrant.
