Interval House of Hamilton provides supports and services for women with or without children that are experiencing abuse, family violence, or human trafficking.

Victoria and Friends Shelter

At Victoria and Friends Shelter, we provide emergency shelter to women and children. Through emergency shelter, programming and supports, women and children begin their healing journey and take their first steps towards rebuilding their lives. Over 24,000 meals are served annually, and children are fully supported with school lunches and snacks. In 2023, we received 3226 crisis calls and provided safe emergency shelter to 206 women and children fleeing violence. 

Women's Centre of Hamilton

Not every woman will access the shelter system, through Women’s Centre of Hamilton we support over 1000 women each year with safety planning, housing, counselling, groups, and system navigation. With the goal of building resiliency, women learn new skills and report feeling safer and better equipped.

Flamborough Women's Resource Centre and W.E.A.R.S

Women living rurally experience substantial challenges and are at a higher risk of harm and lethality. Flamborough Women’s Resource Centre provides supports designed to improve rural women’s safety, economic independence, and wellbeing. Our WEARS (Women's Education and Rural Support) program focusses on providing mobile counselling and safety planning to rural women. 

Jared's Place

In honour of Jared Osidacz, who was killed by his father during a court-ordered, unsupervised visit, Jared’s Place focusses on supporting women who are involved in the Family Court system. Through advocacy, court accompaniment, education, legal information, and legal navigation, Jared’s Place works hard to reduce the risk of harm to children and women.

MentorAction

MentorAction focuses on preventing gender-based violence by engaging youth, boys, men, and allies in prevention training. Through evidenced-based programs, allies are educated and given the tools they need to safely dismantle and disrupt the cycle of violence. In 2023, we provided GBV prevention education to 2000+ youth in the City of Hamilton and surrounding area(s).
