CASTLE CROWN WILDERNESS COALTION SOCIETY

about

Our Mission

Our Vision: "A world in which wilderness survives so that wild lands and wildlife may thrive, and future generations can know their natural beauty and diversity."

Our goal: "The establishment, restoration, maintenance, and environmental protection of the Castle Wilderness as a viable wilderness within the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem."

About CASTLE CROWN WILDERNESS COALTION SOCIETY

CCWC seeks to protect the endangered Castle Wilderness, on Provincial Crown Land north of Waterton Lakes National Park in the SW corner of Alberta. This 1041 sq km expanse of land is the most biodiverse in Alberta, with almost all the species that were present at European contact (lacking only the bison). While the Castle Wilderness is partly still wild and healthy, incursions are present and expading (sour gas, logging, invasive plants, and motorized recreation).

CCWC is a supporter of the Castle Special Place Conceptual Proposal that would grant protection of the Castle as a combination Wildland/Provincial Park.
