SCWIST (The Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology) is a not-for-profit society that has specialized in improving the presence and influence of women and girls in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) in Canada since 1981.

As the voice for women in STEM for 40 years, SCWIST has promoted participation and advancement through education, networking, mentorship, collaborative partnerships and advocacy.

Your donations help break down barriers for women and girls interested in STEM.

We rely on your donations to operate the SCWIST Resource Centre; to deliver our comprehensive programs; to support our advocacy work; to provide events, workshops and networking opportunities; and to offer scholarships and awards. 

Your Donation Will Support:

• SCWIST Youth Engagement programs offer science outreach for family & youth in urban, rural and Indigenous communities. The ms infinity program inspires young women in BC, Yukon and across Canada by introducing them to exciting career options and education in STEM.
• SCWIST Advocacy Work focusing on removing systemic barriers and creating structural changes to encourage more girls to enter STEM education and more women to thrive in their STEM careers. We advocate to multiple levels of government and provide resources and support to employers to advance diversity in STEM.
• SCWIST Networking and Education including workshops, speakers, social events, and networking opportunities for early-stage or mid-career women to make valuable academic and industry contacts, and to develop a sense of community with other women in STEM fields. SCWIST also provides job boards and scholarships
• SCWIST Adult Programming including The Immigrating Women in STEM program (IWIS) and The Make Possible program, offering mentoring, skills exchange and resources. IWIS provides support to women who have immigrated to Canada after having trained and established careers in STEM in other countries. Make Possible provides an online platform that reduces barriers and increases access especially for people living in remote communities and balancing career and family obligations.

Spirit of SCWIST Endowment

The Spirit of SCWIST Endowment Fund was established in 2017 to support the long-term financial stability of SCWIST. This fund is an endowment fund that provides steady income and enables us to advance our mission over the long-term. The fund is administered by Vancouver Foundation
