Casa - Pueblito promotes compassion and social justice across borders
Casa Canadiense - Pueblito Canada works in partnership with local non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) to provide capacity building and financial assistance for culturally appropriate, innovative programs that benefit children and communities directly. We aim to establish partnerships with grassroots groups that otherwise would not have access to funding and work with them, year after year, to address community needs through projects designed and implemented by community members.
We are committed to creating lasting positive change through our solidarity work and seek projects that will create permanent change. Our role involves financing these projects, monitoring their progress, and making sure solutions are locally relevant and sustainable. We have developed meaningful and horizontal relationships with our partners based on mutual respect, trust, and solidarity. We strive to learn from their lived realities and histories to make sure our strategies are appropriate for the local culture and context. Casa - Pueblito believes in the critical role the family and community plays in the development of healthy and happy children and all our programs are designed with a view to involving and mobilizing the family and community.
Finally, through our Global Education Program we promote cross-cultural learning and yearly knowledge exchange opportunities between Canadian interns and our partner communities. We believe constant, mutual learning is critical to achieving our mission.
Casa - Pueblito is currently focusing its programming efforts in Nicaragua and in the local Toronto community.
