Our Mission
The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth is a registered charity and receives no government funding for our community programs and services.
We are an independent charity, running two centres -- one each in Kitchener-Waterloo and Stratford-Perth. You'll know us simply as the Humane Society, and that's fine: Humane is exactly what we are.
Our mission is to protect pets and people. We rescue and shelter vulnerable animals. Our full-time veterinary team treats the injured and sick, and provides free or low-cost essential care for both the centre pets and to the public. Our educators work in elementary schools, high schools, and even universities. And, of course, we create new "fur-ever" families, facilitating more than 1500 adoptions each year.
We are certainly the community's leader in promoting animal welfare, and we probably do more than you think.
