Clean lakes and rivers. Abundant fish and wildlife. Personal connections to nature. Quality outdoors time with family and friends. These are the goals of OFAH supporters.

OFAH donors and members are passionate about their outdoor traditions but they do a lot more than fish and hunt! In communities throughout Ontario, the OFAH has made a difference for local stream restoration, elk, wild turkey and Atlantic salmon reintroduction, walleye, trout and salmon stocking, conservation research, anti-poaching, litter clean-ups, and award-winning outreach programs. The OFAH is internationally recognized for its leadership in the fight to protect our natural resources from the spread of invasive species. The OFAH is supported by volunteers who plant trees, build nesting boxes and devote their lives to improving their local forests and wetland areas.

OFAH conservation work benefits many species of wildlife (not just game species). Over the years, the Federation has invested millions of dollars into fish and wildlife research and restoration projects for wetlands and rivers and a wide variety of projects for species such as Trumpeter swans, spotted turtles, barn owls and Peregrine falcons to name just a few. The OFAH continues to tackle broader biodiversity issues by protecting and restoring habitats and healthy ecosystems that support species at risk, pollinators and many other non-game species.  

Right now, local fisheries improvement efforts and habitat conservation needs more assistance. Our natural resources simply cannot count solely on government funding. As always, Ontario’s natural resources depend on the stewardship and grassroots determination of the outdoors community.
