The mission of Centraide of Greater Montreal is to take action together for an inclusive Greater Montreal without poverty.

We act on the factors that are most likely to bring about lasting and significant change in people’s lives.

Poverty affects more single-parent families, single individuals, people with disabilities, recent immigrants or those with precarious status, and members of visible minorities. Poverty has a significant impact on several aspects of life, including academic success, housing conditions, food security, physical and mental health, and life expectancy.

Poverty is not an individual issue. It concerns everyone! Poverty has a cost, as it deprives society of its full pool of talent and resources.

We support a network of over 375 dynamic agencies and projects that bring people together. We invest according to each neighborhood’s needs with the goal of improving quality of life. In Greater Montreal, 1 out of 5 people receives support from an agency in Centraide’s network.

• For inclusive communities - By supporting marginalized groups, we create inclusive communities in which everyone feels valued, respected and fully included, regardless of their situation or identity. We fight prejudice, discrimination and inequality that can exclude certain population groups.
• For a strong and cohesive social fabric - By strengthening the leadership and skills of community agencies and collective bodies, we are reinforcing the social fabric to further combat poverty and social exclusion in Greater Montreal’s neighbourhoods.
