A restored Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception will be the heart of a transformed city neighbourhood…true to the dream of its original founders. The mission of our charitable organization is to administer this project.
Constructed between 1883 and 1885 to accommodate the tens of thousands of Irish immigrants to Saint John, New Brunswick, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is one of the finest examples of Gothic and sacred architecture in Atlantic Canada. It is the centrepiece of a community neighbourhood that includes a hospital; respite and elder care facilities; community outreach services; and affordable housing that will reshape the former St. Vincent’s High School.
Listed on the Canadian Register of Historic Sites and a designated Provincial Heritage Place, the Cathedral is an iconic and historic arts & cultural centre, featuring local, regional and nationally recognized musical talent through the Concerts in the Cathedral series.
The entire restoration and revitalization will unfold over some years and plans include an Irish Heritage Interpretive Centre and memorial gardens.
As a historic building of national significance, Saint John's Cathedral deserves our support. You can help preserve it. Make it your legacy. Your investment will reward you for generations to come.
