The Huntsville Suzuki School of Music teaches violin, viola, classical guitar and piano using the "mother-tongue" method developed by Shinichi Suzuki. The Suzuki philosophy of teaching emphasizes a nurturing, non-competitive environment where the student learns though ear training, progressive small steps and playing in groups with other students. The benefits of the Suzuki Method extend beyond learning to play an instrument. Skills are developed that give the child a sense of self-worth, confidence and poise. While one-on-one lessons with our trained Suzuki teachers is the foundation of the Suzuki Method, group lessons encourage confidence, community and learning new skills with other students. In group classes students prepare for concerts and performances, and learn to follow and lead. More importantly they get to make music with each other, creating life-long memories. One of the ways we give back to the community is by performing free concerts throughout the year, as well as outreach to schools and other community groups.
