about

Our Mission

Hummingbird Ministries' mission is to promote healing for Indigenous people and healing for the broken relationship with the Church and Canadians. We raise the profile of Indigenous people in Canada through healing Circles, cultural arts and the reclaiming of Indigenous wisdom and spiritual gifts. Through Circles and arts performances, we educate and promote peace and harmony with churches and organizations, especially those committed to the TRC's 94 Calls to Action. Hummingbird Ministries is premised on “The 1994 Confession of The Presbyterian Church in Canada Regarding Injustice Suffered by First Nations Peoples”, to walk with Aboriginal people in journeys to wholeness and healing together as God’s people. After 150 years of Indian Act legislation embedded in all of Canada's systems, it is difficult to hope for any immediate or significant change. But thanks be to the Spirit, there's a glimmer of light on the horizon. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5
