On May 30th I'll be taking my new dog and hitting the trail at a wildlife sanctuary outside of Coldwater and "Hiking for Hospice". It's a fundraiser for Hospice Huronia to support hospice care and bereavement services in North Simcoe.
I've worked for Hospice Huronia for almost 4 yrs and continue to be in awe of what happens here. We now have a hospice home called Tomkins House which provides end-of-life care for residents and bereavement support to community members who are dealing with loss. Compassionate staff and volunteers take many extra steps to ensure the residents and their families are comfortable and at ease.
It's a special place, with no cost to the residents or families, though 50% of their expenses must be fundraised through generous donors & events like this annual Hike.
