On October 19, I’m giving up my bed for one measly night. It will be in a safe and temporary environment. Instead of a comfortable mattress, I will sleep on a cardboard box with a coat for a blanket. The very next day I’ll be back in my warm bed. Something I’ve taken for granted my whole life. You too?
Unfortunately, for many this is much more than a one-night arrangement - it’s their daily reality.
By joining other community leaders in raising awareness about homelessness and furniture poverty, Genoa Design and I hope to count on your support to help Home Again Furniture Bank reach its fundraising goals.
Last year 454 beds were donated to people (many of them children) who previously slept on floors, yoga mats or other poor alternatives. Today, there are many more in need of beds and other furniture.
