On June 12th We received a Peregrine Falcon from the Kitchener area. The bird had been picked up by the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society and taken to Preston Animal Hospital.
The x-ray revealed a broken wing (metacarpal fracture). After consulting with veterinarians we decided that surgery is needed to allow this bird to fly again.
On Tuesday the 19th the Falcon will receive pins and an external fixator to help heal his wing in the right way. When you are a falcon your wings have to be 100% or else you won't be able to hunt successfully. The orthopedic surgeon is one of the best in Ontario and we are all hopeful the bird will make a full recovery.
Unfortunately OVC does not provide much in the way of a discount as per University Rules.
We would like to ask the community to help us out by contributing money towards the $2000 surgery required for this falcon.
The falcon is wearing a black auxiliary band number B11
