Since 1976 Hiatus House has been committed to providing safe environments for women and their children who have experienced domestic violence. Hiatus House is a safe space where women and their families can heal and strengthen their lives after experiencing violence.

Hiatus House is the only shelter in Windsor mandated to support women and families who have experienced violence. Our services offer help and hope to those impacted by violence.

Last year 555 women and children were admitted to our emergency shelter, we are now working on second-stage assistance for these women and their children which will provide additional care and support once they leave the emergency shelter.

Hiatus House is launching a Transitional Housing Project directly across the street from our emergency shelter. The proposed building will offer 40 apartment units and wrap-around services to support women who have left violent situations with safe, affordable housing and provide “A Place to Heal”.

Every dollar that is donated allows us to provide care and comfort to women and children who have fled domestic violence.
