about

Our Mission

HI is an independent and impartial aid organisation working in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict and disaster. We work along people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, taking action and bearing witness in order to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.

About us

The Canadian section of HI was founded in 2003. The goal is to share and maximize the organization's valuable experience, while providing additional technical, human, administrative and financial resources available locally that are essential to the fulfillment of our programs in the field.

In 1992, HI co-founded the International Campaign to Ban Landmines that worked, with Canada and other states, to achieve the 1997 Ottawa Treaty against Landmines. This campaign received the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.

In January 2018, Handicap International became Humanity & Inclusion.
