The Halifax Summer Opera Festival Association (HSOF) educates and trains singers (usually at the university or young professional level) for careers in opera and musical theatre performance. Our annual summer festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia is built around three works drawn from standard opera or musical theatre repertoire. Since 2005 we have produced 33 full length works of opera or musical theatre and provided training for hundreds and hundreds of singers, most of them Canadian. For many of these singers we provide scholarship assistance to the program, and one of our principal areas of fundraising concerns supporting these scholarships and the young people who qualify for them.
