Across northern Alberta, families and individuals are struggling to achieve homeownership. Expensive down payments and unaffordable monthly payments make owning a home difficult, and many families are stuck renting, unable to build equity and save for their future.

Over the years, home prices have risen much faster than incomes, making it increasingly difficult for residents, especially first-time buyers, to enter the housing market. In 2000, the average home price in Edmonton was $163,000 and he median household income in Alberta in 2000 was $42,000. Today, the average residential home price in Alberta is $494,920 and today’s median income is $94,000.

Habitat's affordable homeownership program makes owning a home a reality by offering no down payment and affordable monthly payments. We provide a hand-up so that families and individuals can break free from the rent cycle and build strength, stability, and self-reliance.

We've given over 880 northern Albertans a brighter future. Habitat for Humanity mobilizes donors and volunteers to bring generational change to people across northern Alberta.

We've served 290+ homeowners through our sustainable Buy Back Program.Habitat’s Buy Back Program provides Habitat with the option to repurchase a home from a family in order to serve another family with that same house.
