OUR MiSSION
The Guelph Hiking Trail Club believes that if we develop collaborative relationships with many individuals and organizations to create, maintain and publicize a network of local recreational trails, then the wellbeing of individuals and the community will be enhanced, because they have safe access to a trail system that allows them to interact with the natural environment".
Since 1971, volunteers have maintained and led organized hikes on 3 trail networks radiating from Guelph: The Radial Line Trail, 40km from Guelph to Limehouse; The Speed River Trail, 14km from Guelph to Cambridge; and, the Kissing Bridge Trail, 12km from Guelph to West Montrose. The Club has recently begun an initiative to link city trails to its rural network.
In 2021 The Club led a funding initiative in partnership with community organisations GCC, GCAT, GORBA and the Guelph Victors to install The Gosling Bridge.
In late 2022 the Club led a community campaign to fundraise and install the Crane Park Community Bridge, the Club's 50th Anniversary Legacy project.
