Guelph Hiking Trail Club objectives: stimulate an interest in hiking, establish/maintain trails and awareness of the natural environment.
OUR MiSSION
The Guelph Hiking Trail Club believes that if we develop collaborative relationships with many individuals and organizations to create, maintain and publicize a network of local recreational trails, then the wellbeing of individuals and the community will be enhanced, because they have safe access to a trail system that allows them to interact with the natural environment".
Since 1971, volunteers have maintained and led organized hikes on 3 trail networks radiating from Guelph: The Radial Line Trail, 40km from Guelph to Limehouse; The Speed River Trail, 14km from Guelph to Cambridge; and, the Kissing Bridge Trail, 12km from Guelph to West Montrose. The Club has recently begun an initiative to link city trails to its rural network.
In 2021 The Club led a funding initiative in partnership with community organisations GCC, GCAT, GORBA and the Guelph Victors to install The Gosling Bridge.
In late 2022 the Club led a community campaign to fundraise and install the Crane Park Community Bridge, the Club's 50th Anniversary Legacy project.
