GTNT is an award-winning theatre company in Saskatoon and our mission is to produce and present innovative cultural theatre!
Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre (formerly the Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company) is a 20+ year old award-winning, and Indigenous-led theatre company based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It is our mission to produce and present innovative cultural theatre that engages and empowers Indigenous youth, artists, and the greater Saskatchewan community.
In addition to our professional theatre season, we invest in our city's Indigenous youth through various theatre programs:
Our Circle of Voices program which engages 10-15 young artists in creating culturally-based theatre and introduces them to Saskatoon’s vibrant professional theatre community. One of the greatest success stories of this program is that some of its alumni are now running the company, and one, Curtis Peeteetuce, has received the Henry Woolf Award for Continuing Achievement in theatre from the Saskatchewan Area Theatre Awards for his varied roles over the past 20 years.
The New Voices Playwrighting Residency develops the skills of emerging playwrights and inspires the next generation of Indigenous storytellers to have their voice heard.
