Sanctuary was opened in 1997 and since then we have been providing a free and safe after school program for children ages 8-12 from 2:30PM-7:30PM five days a week. Our program is unique in the province and is entirely supported by donations and grants. Many of our children come from financially challenged homes. Sanctuary allows parents to work, improving their standard of living and supporting the local economy. Sanctuary allows children with emotional issues to socialize in a non-threating and supportive environment. The children are introduced to a variety of fun activities such as baking, cooking, bike riding, crafts, pottery, science experiments, mental wellness teaching and important life skills. We also provide snacks and dinner to ensure the children receive proper nutrition, which in turn also provides financial relief to the families.
