About FRIENDS OF THE RALPH CONNOR HOUSE INC.

Friends of The Ralph Connor House Inc. is the organization that owns and is responsible for the preservation of Ralph Connor House.

Ralph Connor, the pen name of Reverend Charles Gordon, was a literary giant - the prolific author of forty-one novels (plus additional published works) and the most popular and best-selling author of the early 20th century. A portion of the royalties earned was used to build the family home and parish office at 54 West Gate, Winnipeg. Today, it is a treasure of historical importance.

Completed in 1914, the three-storey, 23 room, 11,000 square foot home, Ralph Connor House (RCH) is designed in the Jacobethan Revival style, unique to North America. Today, it holds National Heritage status, it is one of four houses in Winnipeg with Provincial Heritage status and among fourteen designated Heritage Houses in the province of Manitoba. Ralph Connor House, however, has a unique distinction among its provincial counterparts: it is a fully operational facility, not a museum. It hosts educational tours and a wide range of community gatherings and is home to the University Women's Club of Winnipeg.

Like any building of its era, ongoing maintenance and repair is critical to the survival of Ralph Connor House. Maintaining the building is one of the highest priorities in our stewardship and any assistance is gratefully accepted.
