Overview
Dancers and movers are invited to attend a choreographic exploration with special guest Peter Quanz.
2-4-1, a choreography presented in Free Flow Dance Theatre Company’s Emerge - Gala of Dance Works 2023, is a dynamic and explosive investigation into the nuanced intimate relationship between two dancers. Gender-flexible, 2-4-1 has been presented with two women and also with two men. For this two-hour workshop offered by the Free Flow Dance Theatre Company, choreographer, Peter Quanz, will teach excerpts from the choreography and then collaborate with the participants to explore intent, coaching, and developing a range of movement choices. Please wear movement attire and socks or bare feet. Partnering will be part of this workshop.

PETER QUANZ, Resident Choreographer of Harbin Ballet & Artistic Director of Q DANCE, is a Canadian choreographer of international renown known for his groundbreaking choreographic collaborations in dance, music, and visual art. His diverse aesthetic encompasses classical and contemporary ballet, contemporary dance/theatre experiences, and classical Chinese dance. Cultural immersion is a significant component of Peter’s work and he is attracted to projects that offer opportunities to build international cooperation.

As Resident Choreographer, Peter Quanz partners with an ensemble of 35 dancers to create dances inspired by Chinese culture and Western thought.
Peter has choreographed for dance companies, opera, and theatre, and has created ballets for some of the world’s leading ballet companies including the Mariinsky Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, Royal Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, National Ballet of Cuba, Hong Kong Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and Montréal Danse.
