Overview
Professional and emerging dancers are welcome to attend either in-person (please register as such) or the online zoom platform-based Brain-Body Connection Professional Development Series hosted by Free Flow Dance Theatre free of charge. If you would like and can afford to make a donation to support the future of the company please do! We are pleased to host this series of workshops with the support of the Community Initiative Fund, City of Saskatoon, and Sasktel.
Workshop: Brain Before Body
Have you ever wondered how to get more out of your students and take them further? In the Brain Before Body 2-part workshop series, techniques from the Simply STIKK WITH IT program by Myra Kirk will guide our study of the complexities of the mind. Lessons in brain function, tricks to teach by, and an in-depth experience on how to apply the concepts practically will make up this workshop. We will uncover some fact-based knowledge about how brains work, giving different tips and techniques into the mental mechanics of learning movement. We will explore different teaching strategies to strengthen our understanding of how the brain functions and unlock more potential in our students.

Facilitator: Karla Kloeble
Karla has been establishing her career as an independent artist in Saskatoon for the last 10 years with experience as a soloist, collaborator, mentor, and instructor in dance disciplines alongside hula-hooping as a circus art form. For over 20 years dance has been her passion, performing and creating through the disciplines of ballet, improvisation, contemporary, and dance fusion with hula-hoops. Producing, choreographing, and performing in a number of works at events such as; Lugo, Rush halftime show, World Hoop day, Canada Day events, Corporate events, The Children’s Festival, contracting with the Free Flow Dance Theater Company, and participating in several other festivals, community events and functions over the past 10 years around Saskatoon and across the provenience of Saskatchewan.
