LGBTQ+ and Allied Youth Fraser Valley weekly drop-ins. Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack
The Fraser Valley Youth Society (FVYS)
is a not for profit, charitable organization located in the Fraser Valley (British Columbia). We provide LGBTQ+ and allied youth with opportunities for personal growth and leadership through our workshops, programs and community connections.
We operate a weekly drop-in (Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack) to connect youth and young adults to a healthy and vibrant 2SLGBTQIA+ community, as well as, other special events and programs throughout the year. This is a safe and inclusive space for the youth to be among their peers and talk about issues they are facing. Youth can come and share experiences, learn life skills, build resiliency skills and gain social supports.
Our second Education and Awareness Program includes staff and youth led presentations about 2SLGBTQIA+ terminology, risk factors and best practices for supporting these youth.
The society has gone from a group of volunteers running an Abbotsford weekly drop-in to a part-time staff working along with our dedicated volunteers to run weekly drop-ins in three communities.
We believe a positive, inclusive and safe environment for these youth is very important. This extends beyond our programs to our communities. Our youth need a safe, happy and healthy community to grow up in. You can help to make a difference and remove the barriers for our youth!
