FYI Future Fund

At For Youth Initiative, we believe that education is a fundamental right that should be accessible to all. Unfortunately, many young people in the communities we serve face significant barriers to accessing higher education.

In Ontario, graduation rates for Black youth are significantly lower than those for their non-Black peers. According to a 2021 report by the Toronto District School Board, Black families in Toronto earn, on average, $43,000 less than non-Black families. This is a troubling disparity that highlights the need for more financial and social support for Black youth in accessing post-secondary education.

This is why we created the FYI Future Fund which provides scholarship funding to underserved  Black, newcomer, and racialized youth. We are excited to announce that in 2024, we plan to award an additional 25 scholarships as well as many bursaries to deserving youth by raising $65,000. We need your help to reach our goal.

Your donation, no matter how small, will support youth to access higher education, training, and apprenticeship programs. Together, we can give  deserving students the opportunity to pursue their dreams, achieve their goals, and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

What Your Donation Achieves

Removing the financial barriers for young people pursuing higher education, trades, training, & apprenticeship programs. 

A donation of $95.00 will fund one college application fee for up to five program choices

A donation of $250.00 will fund one university application fee for up to five program choices

A donation of $2000.00 funds post-secondary expenses for one youth (one scholarship)

What We’ve Achieved

• Since 2005, have awarded $210,000 in scholarships to 123 youth
• In 2022-2023 we distributed $34,875 in scholarships & bursaries towards post-secondary education and training for local youth
