Our Mission

The members of the First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo are committed to maintaining a welcoming and caring liberal religious community on Central Vancouver Island. We strive to value the uniqueness of each person and to foster a supportive environment that nurtures spiritual, emotional and intellectual growth. We encourage respect for diversity and individual freedom with responsibility. In reaching out to the larger community in our work for peace and justice with compassion, we acknowledge our part in the interdependent web of all existence.

About First Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo

As a Unitarian Fellowship, we share a commitment to peace, freedom and environmental responsibility in addition to social, civil and economic justice for all. Unitarian religious perspectives are characterized by a balance of reason and belief, intellect and intuition, a commitment to spiritual and ethical values and a celebration of life. We are an inclusive congregation. We welcome all regardless of age, race or sexual orientation.

As Unitarians we covenant to affirm and promote:

-the inherent worth and dignity of every person;

-justice, equity and compassion in human relations;

-acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
