In March of 2016 the first family we sponsored as a congregation arrived in Canada. As we got to know them we discovered they had left some family members behind in the refugee camp they had come from.

In April 2019 Faith Church began the process of sponsoring the last family member left in the camp, a daughter and her husband and their three children. Since then, the family has grown to include 5 children!

In December 2021 the family was interviewed by the Canadian government and in February of 2022 our team received a request for arrival confirmation! 

After weeks of preparing a home for the family, we met them for the first time on July 5th, 2022. They had been travelling for 7 days and three flights. The joy of this family reunion was overwhelming. To see parents and siblings reunited, uncles, aunts and grandparents meeting new babies in real life for the first time was extremely moving. 

In the months since their arrival, we have gotten to know and love this family well! They are resilient and gracious folks who have worked hard to adapt to the Canadian way of doing things. The oldest children and parents have begun school and are beginning to see themselves as part of the Faith Church, and broader community.
