The Edmonton People in Need Shelter Society (EPINSS) is a community-based, not-for-profit charitable organization whose mission is to improve the well-being and enhance the quality of life of those individuals in the community suffering from severe and persistent chronic mental illness.
To assist people to live as independently as possible, the Society offers a full range of support services including 24 hour on-site nursing, on site physician, full dining services, recreation, housekeeping and other contracted services.
EPINSS has many clients to which this is their home and as such they want to remain here until the end of their lives. With the goal to let all clients that want to age in place remain here, we are working towards a Aging in Place Program so that no client has to move because their care needs become too high. EPINSS hopes to be able to build a dedicated facility providing a higher level of care up to and including palliative services. Should building a new facility never come to fruition then aging in place program will provide the necessary added equipment and services needed to ensure no client ever needs to leave their home.
