When Teachers Lead, Students Succeed
$0raised of$10,000

Public Education is the cornerstone of a successful society, and research into effective teaching strategies is crucial for enhancing teaching and learning in Saskatchewan. Teachers, however, often lack the time, resources, and opportunities to explore and reflect on their practice in a formal way.

The McDowell Foundation bridges this gap by:

  • Funding research projects that explore a wide range of topics including Indigenous education, classroom complexity, teacher well-being, literacy and language, mathematics and science, and pedagogy.
  • Providing information, resources, and training to educators seeking to formalize their own research.
  • Developing resources and sharing research findings that empower teachers to reflect on their practice and implement techniques to enhance student engagement, understanding, and achievement.

Since its inception in 1991, the McDowell Foundation has been a leader in fostering collaboration between teachers, administrators, universities, and other education sector partners. Through our efforts we have been able to:

  • Provide funding for over 300 projects impacting hundreds of teachers and countless students and classrooms.
  • Award more than $2 million in grants
  • Share research findings through conferences, salon series, and other publications.
  • Support teaching and learning throughout Saskatchewan.

We have been able to carry this out thanks to the generous support from our donors, whose donations go directly towards supporting teacher-led research in the province. By supporting the Foundation, you are helping to enhance public education for students and teachers in Saskatchewan.
