GIVING TUESDAY - Thrifters' Paradise Relief

Support Hope: Help us provide relief for women & children in need during our thrift store closure.

For years, Thrifters’ Paradise, a thrift store in Langley BC operated by Domestic Abuse Services – Our Lady of Good Counsel Society, has provided a unique opportunity for the community to give back while shopping for an amazing selection of gently used items. All funds generated from the store helped us cover operating expenses for Eva’s House and the Society’s help line, allowing us to offer life-changing services to vulnerable women and their children, escaping abuse.

Due to a devastating fire that broke out on October 5, 2024, our Society has had to announce an indefinite closure of the donation store. The incident has caused significant financial loss and threatens our organization’s ability to continue funding critical services for survivors.

This GIVING TUESDAY, please consider a donation to help provide relief during this challenging time. Your donations will help us continue our programming at our second-stage shelter, including safe-shelter, counselling services, and Christmas hampers to families at Eva’s House and the operations of our help line to all survivors of domestic abuse. Thank for providing hope TO LIVE WITHOUT FEAR.

Domestic Abuse Services – Our Lady of Good Counsel Society, is a non-profit dedicated to providing shelter and support for women and children fleeing domestic violence and advocacy for all against domestic abuse. Over the last year, our shelter was home to 13 women and 20 children.

We are heartbroken by this unfortunate event. The donation store has been a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts, and its closure creates a financial gap that directly impacts the women and children we serve. While we are grateful that no one was hurt in the fire, the loss is immense, and we are now in urgent need of support from the community to continue our essential work.” ~Angelina Stiglich, President of Domestic Abuse Services.
