Founded initially as the Calgary Chinese Community Service Association (CCCSA) in 1978, Diversecities is a community-based non-profit organization with the mission to create an inclusive and supportive society, where all people have full and equitable access to all aspects of Canadian society. Rebranded in January 2021, “Diversecities” is a renewed expression of our vision to create a welcoming home for immigrants, where Calgarians of various ethnic origins are meaningfully engaged in the community. We take part in building a more inclusive society by addressing cultural, social, economic, and language barriers, and act as a bridge to public and private institutions.
Diversecities is a community service that provides assistance to Calgarians in four key life areas: (a) economic integration, (b) social connection, (c) well-being; and, (d) learning. These four key life areas are addressed through the delivery of programs and services that form Diversecities’ main pillars: Law & Advocacy, Bridge to the Community, Children & Youth, Health & Wellness, and Food Security. Specific activities include, but are not limited to, English language and digital literacy programs, afterschool programs, workshops and seminars, legal clinics, community support groups, interpretation and translation, anti-racism community engagement activities, and community events.
