Horses are the heart of our program. They are the strong backs carrying our riders towards their physical goals, the listening ears allowing participants to improve communication and social goals, and the warm fuzzy noses whose warm breath can help to reduce anxiety and improve mindfulness. CTRA exists as a social hub of inclusion that revolves around these amazing and gentle creatures, and without our four-legged friends, we wouldn't have a program.

Our experienced therapy horses often require a little more care and attention than many. In order to keep them in peak physical and mental health, we carefully manage their diets, health care, exercise, training and living quarters. It takes roughly $6000 per year, per pony, for the most basic feed and care, plus additional health services, hoof care/shoes and supplements.

Sponsoring a therapy horse is a great way to show how much you value our equine partners. Each year, CTRA’s goal is to have every pony sponsored. Horse sponsors will have a plaque on their horse’s stall for one year, photo opportunities, media posts and as many horse snuggles as they can handle!
