Covenant Foundation respectfully acknowledges that our central office in Edmonton and several foundation-supported Covenant sites are located on Treaty 6 territory and Region 4 of the Métis Nation of Alberta, a traditional land and gathering place of diverse Indigenous peoples including the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Iroquois, Dene, Ojibway/Saulteaux/Anishinaabe, Inuit, and many others. We also support Covenant sites all across Alberta on Treaty 4, 6 and 7 territory, as well as the Regions 2, 3 and 4 of the Métis Nation of Alberta. We honour and respect the people whose histories, languages and cultures have been here for thousands of years and continue to influence our vibrant community. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
*Formerly Caritas Foundation, the amalgamated Covenant Foundation was formed on April 1, 2016 to increase fundraising capacity and promote community health, awareness and education of Covenant family health services and Catholic health care; and to raise funds to support excellence in patient care, research, and education at Covenant Health, Covenant Care, and Covenant Living facilities across Alberta.
