Our Mission
Each year in Ottawa, over one thousand women experience homelessness.
Cornerstone is able to provide emergency shelter, wraparound services, and supportive housing to well over six hundred women each year.
Our services are offered in an environment which promotes dignity and a sense of hope.
We are committed to public education and advocacy. We strive to increase safe, affordable housing and to end homelessness.
What We Do
Thanks to kind-hearted donors and community support, Cornerstone provides services for a diversity of women, currently experiencing homelessness and who are at-risk of homelessness. Our services include, supportive and affordable housing, emergency shelter, basic needs, housing search, transitional programs, and addiction, and pastoral care services.
We serve many women from marginalized communities, such as Indigenous women, New Canadian Women, senior women, women working with substance use disorders, women who are other abled and experiencing mental health issues.
Cornerstone runs the only shelter unique to women in Ottawa - the Women’s Shelter provides emergency, short term accommodation for 61 women per day.
We also offer four permanent, supportive housing communities, with full-time staffing, at Princeton Avenue (42 apartments) Booth Street (42 apartments), MacLaren Street (20 units), and McPhail House (6 units).
