Overview
From the comfort of home, carve a pumpkin, bring it to us and we will ensure your lovingly carved creation can be enjoyed by seniors in our community. It’s that simple and registration is free!
CARVE is a fun opportunity for the public to connect with seniors in a unique way hosted by the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation. While joy is the main objective for both giver and receiver, optional fundraising to support seniors’ care in the Comox Valley is encouraged. Funds raised from CARVE will support items such as a blanket warmer, music therapy, and patient lifts at Cumberland Lodge, Glacier View Lodge, and The Views at St. Joseph’s.
Sincere gratitude to our presenting sponsor, Brian McLean Chevrolet Buick GMC, and to our local Thrifty Foods stores for offering their Pumpkins for Healthcare fundraiser in conjunction with CARVE.
Details
Together with Brian McLean Chevrolet Buick GMC and Thrifty Foods, the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation is excited to offer an opportunity for the community to bring joy to seniors through the display of carved pumpkins.
Here is how it works:
1) Register: Pre-registration online is free but required. Participation is limited to one carved pumpkin per family so we can share the opportunity with as many households as possible. Some families may choose to work together on one pumpkin, or they may delegate one family member to be the designated carver. Either way, only one person per household needs to register.
2) Purchase your pumpkin: Pick out that perfect pumpkin! We wanted to ensure you know when purchasing your pumpkin that Thrifty Foods at either of the Comox Valley locations is kindly offering $1 per pumpkin as a donation to the Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation.
3) Carve: It’s time to get creative! Carve your pumpkin. You might choose a traditional design for your jack-o-lantern or something more love-inspired. We recommend carving within one or two days of October 24th so that your pumpkin is suitable for display until Halloween.
4) Drop off your carved pumpkin on October 24th between 3pm and 5pm. We will email you further details including the address of the convenient drop-off location once you register. Volunteers will greet you, collect your carved pumpkin, and store it securely for transport to display sites.
5) Feel good knowing you have brought smiles to seniors and their caregivers: Thank you for your hard work and fun-loving spirit. Our Foundation will deliver your carved pumpkins to Cumberland Lodge, Glacier View Lodge, The Views at St. Joseph's, clients’ homes through Home Care Support and we will have a small display at the entrance of the Comox Valley Hospital.
6) OPTIONAL - Set up a fundraising page: For those looking to maximize the benefit to local healthcare and to showcase their carving in another way, we encourage you to set up your own fundraising page. Upload pictures and let your friends and family know that you are carving a pumpkin to support care for seniors and encourage donations through your custom fundraising page. Thank you for your interest! We appreciate how much you CARE!
