Mission

Community Respite Service Inc. provides quality respite in parts of southern Manitoba, especially Winnipeg and the Westman regions,for caregivers of and to individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.

Vision:

To provide support to caregivers and individuals in order to foster independence and participation in the community.

There are two specific programs that require your support:

• CRS apartment – CRS maintains a 2-bedroom, wheelchair accessible apartment in the downtown area of Winnipeg. The apartment is available for anyone with a disability to rent. Due to the pandemic the apartment has not been rented as frequently as it has in the past. For CRS to be able to maintain the apartment, much needed fundraising revenue needs to happen.
• Grant-funded individuals – Not everyone gets funding through the government for respite. CRS supports several individuals in this category. Each individual may get 16-20 hours of respite per year. This isn’t much but it does help with appointments, shopping, etc.

For every $25 raised, one hour of respite can be provided or put towards offsetting costs to the apartment.
