Overview

Thank you for your support of CRIS Adaptive this past January 1st, 2025, as we rung in the new year with #freezinforareason by taking an icy plunge in Okanagan lake!

This year was the 10th annual Kelowna Polar Bear Dip, raising funds for CRIS Adaptive to provide adaptive, accessible, and inclusive outdoor recreation programs for people of all ages living with disabilities.

About This Charity

The Community Recreational Initiatives Society (CRIS) is a non-profit organization that serves the Okanagan and provides outdoor recreation programs and opportunities for people of all ages living with disabilities.  We all know the value of getting outside and enjoying nature - whether it’s going for a hike up Knox mountain, kayaking on Kalamalka lake or XC skiing at Telemark, there’s no doubt we live in one of the best areas in the world for outdoor recreation. Many people face barriers to these activities and natural spaces, which is where CRIS comes in. Using a wide variety of adaptive equipment and team of trained support staff and volunteers, we can make these adventures accessible for everyone.
