Welcome to Second Chance, a registered charity expanding services across Toronto, Durham, York and Peel Region. Our support is primarily counselling and social services, supporting the poor and disadvantaged individuals and families living in high need communities in these regions.

Last year 2020, during COVID-19, we served 9,660 clients (homeless youth, seniors and low income families)  and the demand for our services increased by 60% for essentials (food, housing, PPE items, hygiene products) and more. 

At Second Chance, we have an open door policy, working with clients from all walks of life. We often see clients with multiple challenges, including family issues, mental health, addictions, conflict with the law, poverty, low education, homelessness and under-employment. There is also an increasing number of newcomers and refugees arriving in Toronto daily that receive basic living supports from us.

Second Chance Outreach Specialists and volunteers are committed to working and walking with each client through whatever challenges they face, creating positive, long-term life changes.

Our Mission: To serve those that are vulnerable and disenfranchised and give them supports that can help overcome barriers and daily challenges.

We are a volunteer-driven organization with over 500 volunteers that have assisted over the years.  Volunteers include professional counsellors, pro bono legal experts, educators and business leaders. These highly qualified individuals dedicate their resources to working with Second Chance staff in providing counselling and community programs. College students studying social services, human resources and law are also involved as vocational placements, gaining real-life work training and providing much-needed supports to the community.

Those that have benefited from our Counselling and Social Service supports are:  Single Deserving parents, Abused women and children. We also offer Legal support for incarcerated youth to Native Centres, Homeless shelters and those that visit the Food banks.
