About Community Music Schools of Toronto

Community Music Schools of Toronto (expanding from Regent Park School of Music) is a charitable organization that gives children and youth in need aged 4-18 a rich and rewarding music and social education that helps them realize their potential. We provide music lessons, instruments, performance, leadership and mentorship opportunities in a safe, creative environment, helping to enrich our students lives, and give them the chance of a bright future.

Founded in 1999 with just 71 kids, Community Music Schools of Toronto has gone on to impact the lives of thousands of young people in Regent Park, Jane Finch, Wandering Spirit School (formerly First Nations School of Toronto) and other school-aged children from high-risk neighbourhoods in a combination of after-school, weekend, March Break and summer camp music education programs.

With the passionate support of so many friends over the years, Community Music Schools of Toronto is now reaching hundreds of kids across the city. But our goal remains exactly the same as it was 23 years ago…to give young people a great music education and to build their confidence and aspirations so that they not only graduate high school but also go on to university and college to pave the way for a bright, bold future.
