CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario/Éducation juridique communautaire Ontario) is a non-profit organization that provides accurate and easy-to-understand information to help people in Ontario understand and exercise their legal rights. Our work focuses on providing information to people who face barriers to accessing the justice system, including income, disability, literacy, and language.
Our work includes:
- legal information publications and websites, available in print and online formats and in a variety of languages
- our flagship Steps to Justice website, which provides step-by-step legal information about common legal problems
- research and projects, through the Centre for Research & Innovation, that help Ontario organizations deliver effective legal rights information
CLEO receives funding from Legal Aid Ontario, the Law Foundation of Ontario, and the Department of Justice Canada.
All CLEO legal information is provided free of charge to the public. Our staff includes lawyers and editors who ensure that our legal information is accurate and easy to understand. Your contributions will help us provide essential legal information to people in Ontario.
If you would like your donation to be directed to a particular CLEO project, or have any questions, please contact our Executive Director, Julie Mathews, at julie.mathews@cleo.on.ca.
