About the Community Development Council of Quinte

Established in 1989, The Community Development Council of Quinte is a non-profit, charitable organization, and our work encompasses all Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. The goal of our food security programs is that everyone would have access to an adequate supply of safe, affordable, and nutritious food without social or economic barriers. Our social planning work aims to heighten awareness, increase understanding and work with all sectors to find solutions for the urgent and emerging social issues in our community.

The Good Baby Box participants can purchase formula, diapers, and wipes weekly for a nominal fee. Depots are located throughout Hastings and Prince Edward County, where families can access the program in their own community.

The Good Food Box provides fresh, healthy, and nutritious fruits and vegetables to hundreds of individuals and families annually. The box is packed through our main office located in Belleville and shipped to depots throughout Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. The GFB helps families stretch their food dollars, reduce food costs, and meet nutritional needs.

The Community Garden Program provides 152 raised garden beds in 11 locations, giving participants an opportunity to grow their own produce. This not only helps their budget but also has a social component.
