Our Story
Founded in 1983 by a group of committed families, who were new to Toronto, College- Montrose Children's Place (CMCP) has offered a wide range of flexible, accessible and FREE early learning & family support programs for over 40 years. Our founders, seeing the need for services and programs for children, families, caregivers and grandparents from diverse backgrounds, played an integral role in filling a space that was much needed in our community. With a vision of helping to foster healthy children, healthy families and healthy communities, our mission and vision remains the same to date.
College-Montrose Children's Place Today
Currently we have the privilege of serving over 4,000 families from 9 different locations in downtown west Toronto, including 7 EarlyON Family and Child Centres, our Gooch Family Resource Program and a Community Foodbank.
CMCP programs welcome families with children from 0-6 yrs. with daily drop-in programs that provide safe, inclusive environments that address the changing needs of diverse families and foster the opportunity to play, learn and connect.
Our programming is facilitated by a committed staff of Registered Early Childhood Educators and Family Support Workers. Programs provide developmentally appropriate activities that aid in exploring senses & developing language and motor skills, and the opportunity to engage in both structured and unstructured open-ended, play-based activities.
Families and caregivers have opportunities to expand their social support networks and strengthen their parenting and caregiving skills by learning from each other and through our support and education programs, workshops and referrals.
Our Cooper Mills-Gooch Community Food Bank was created during the pandemic in response to the increased food insecurity issues. Our mission is to provide essential food resources and support to families in need, fostering a healthier and more resilient community.
