Trees Winnipeg (formerly The Coalition to Save the Elms), Manitoba Inc. was founded in 1992, and dedicated to Winnipeg's urban forest.
Trees Winnipeg (formerly known as The Coalition to Save the Elms, Manitoba Inc.) is a not-for-profit charitable organization founded in 1992 in response to the heightened threat to Winnipeg's extraordinary American elm population by Dutch Elm Disease. Over time, new threats have placed our urban forest at risk and our name and mandate expanded to allow us to promote the benefits and concerns of all trees in Winnipeg's urban areas, focusing on tree diversity and care. Our long-standing programs include an annual Arbor Day celebration and twice-annual ReLeaf tree sales that in 2022 provided 2,000 trees to private landowners. Also in 2022, we piloted a Trees for Schools program that saw 28 trees planted at ten inner-city schools and we plan on expanding this program greatly in 2023.For the latest on our programming and other initiatives, visit our website at TreesWinnipeg.org or follow us on Facebook or Twitter.
