Over the next few months, we invite you to participate in our NEW Child Victims Can’t Wait 1000 Challenge and help us support child victims of abuse and crime in our community. This peer-to-peer fundraiser will challenge teams and individuals to complete a task for 1000 units (i.e., hours, kilometres, pages, etc.) of their choice. For every $1000 raised, we can help support one more child through the criminal justice system.
It is estimated that 1 in 3 girls and 1 in 5 boys will experience an unwanted sexual act before the age of 18. Additionally, each week, local police lay an average of 11 charges for crimes directly related to harming a child. Our mission is to provide caring and compassionate support, education, and advocacy to ALL impacted children, youth, and caregivers in our community as they journey through the criminal justice system. However, we cannot do it alone. We NEED your support.
In late 2022, we were forced to start a waitlist for the first time in over 40 years. Our staff works tirelessly to help as many clients as possible, but children are still left behind. Without our support, young victims are more likely to suffer now and struggle later in life. Through our work, we can minimize the risk of re-traumatization while brightening the future for survivors. Your participation in the Child Victims Can’t Wait 1000 Challenge will help support at least 50 child victims while also working to foster a safer and healthier community for all.
With your help, together we can raise $50,000 to help get our young clients off the waitlist.
