• 1 IN 5 Canadians experience a mental illness in any given year
• 4,000 Canadians die by suicide every year—an average of 11 per day
• 800K people die by suicide every year—one every 40 seconds

While mental illness accounts for about 10 per cent of the burden of disease in Ontario, it receives just 7 per cent of healthcare dollars—creating a deficit of approximately $1.5 billion annually. These are the stats. It’s time we change them.
