Today Casa - Pueblito will join a large number of other charities and non-profits in requesting your support on #GivingTuesday, a worldwide day of giving, an opportunity to aid in carrying out crucial work.
Over a year ago we began a Gender-Responsive Agroecology project in the communities in Somotillo, El Crucero, and Nandaime, in Nicaragua. They need your support this #GivingTuesday to develop and improve their agricultural techniques for their income and wellbeing. Women farmers who are heads of households suffer greater levels of poverty and have less access to credit and land.
The decades of industrial chemicals used to fertilize crops and manage pests in Nicaragua has had an ever-increasing impact on the health and lives of people who tend to those crops. In addition, global climate change negatively affects dry tropical forests and rainforests in several other ways.
Our vision has always been solidarity and social justice across borders, and we have continued to work towards this in partnership with grassroots organizations and communities in Nicaragua and Guatemala, improving their education, health, food security, and livelihoods of community members and their families.
We ask you to join us in supporting the integrated health and wellbeing of women and men farmers, their families, crops, and communities to live more sustainably and reduce the effects of climate change.
