Help those who Serve and Protect Us (OSI-CAN)

Help us Fund and Support those who are trained to Support Us and our communities in our times of need.

OSI-CAN (Operational Stress Injury Canada) offers FREE, confidential support to military veterans, RCMP and public safety personnel in Saskatchewan who face mental health challenges stemming from exposure to traumatic events.

Our mission is to inspire hope, promote healing, and support the ongoing well-being of these brave individuals across Saskatchewan. Through peer and professional support, we strive to empower veterans and front-line protectors on their journey toward recovery. We also work to raise public awareness about the mental health challenges faced by those who serve our communities. No formal diagnosis or referral is required to access our services — we are here when you need us.

Testimonial: How OSI-CAN Changed My Life

"As a nurse, I’ve spent years caring for others—through long hours, tough shifts, and heartbreaking moments. I thought I could handle anything. But the weight of witnessing so much pain, loss, and trauma started to crush me. It wasn’t just physical exhaustion; it was emotional. I found myself struggling to sleep, avoiding friends and family, and feeling like I was falling apart.

That’s when I found OSI-CAN. A colleague recommended their peer support group, and I’ll admit, I was hesitant at first. Opening up about my struggles felt like admitting weakness, something I wasn’t used to doing. But from the very first session, I realized I wasn’t alone. I was surrounded by people who understood—veterans and other public safety personnel who had faced similar challenges.

OSI-CAN gave me more than a support group; it gave me hope. Through their resources, I found a counsellor who helped me process the emotions I had buried for years. Their equine-assisted therapy sessions allowed me to connect with myself in ways I didn’t think were possible. Most importantly, I found a community that reminded me that taking care of myself is okay.

Today, I’m back to doing what I love—caring for others. But now, I know how to care for myself, too. I’m forever grateful to OSI-CAN for helping me find balance, healing, and the strength to keep going. They don’t just support us; they save lives. And for that, I will always be thankful."
