CANADIAN JESUITS INTERNATIONAL
Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) is an international development agency of the Jesuits of Canada. We support poor and marginalized people in developing countries through the work of Jesuits and other partners. We also carry out education and advocacy in Canada for international social justice.
Our Mission
The mission of Canadian Jesuits International is to love and to serve by working with people struggling for social justice and dignity in the world. Together with Jesuit and other partners, CJI responds in solidarity, through awareness raising and advocacy in Canada and supporting partnerships in the Global South.
Our Values
We are inspired and nurtured by Ignatian Spirituality.
As a Jesuit institution we seek greater ecological and social justice and peace in the world. Our struggle for social justice and peace flows from faith and brings us back to an ever deeper faith.
We make a preferential option for poor and marginalized peoples and seek to strengthen their communities.
We support the economic, social, civil, political, environmental, spiritual and cultural rights of people. We affirm peoples’ right to shape their destiny, to use their resources responsibly, and to create communities of faith and action.
We seek to build links of solidarity between communities and institutions in Canada and in the Global South and between diverse peoples, cultures and religions.
Our solidarity is rooted in compassion, mutual respect, gender equity and ecological sustainability.
We uphold accountability and transparency in our work and in the work that we support.
